Need help with the Romanian Paperwork?

In Praise of Dean Edgar

As most of you know by now, I am on a fully vertical learning curve when it comes to getting all the paperwork done here. Buying a Romanian company, paying all the taxes, buying and registering a car, getting my residence permit.

Much of this I have left to my accountant, who is good, but slow, Romanian with a more than passable, but not great grasp of the English language, with pretty big fees, and not always in touch with the needs and seeming ignorance and helplessness of the long-term expat.

Then I ran into the wall. A tangle of Romanian legal requirements for getting the final papers on the car, which I needed to have to leave the country to get my visa renewed. (Gotta love this country!) I was at a standstill on the horns of the inevitable Romanian bureaucracy. The accountant couldn't help here. And I'd used my Romanian friends too often to feel comfortable asking for their help again. Then I remembered that we had a solution right here on the Meetup list.

Meetup member Dean Edgar to the rescue!

One call to Dean, then a visit to his Moorcroft office with all the papers I'd managed to collect at 4pm, and by 8pm the same day, I got the call that the car was now legally egistered, the papers were in hand, and in the morning I could be on the road to Bulgaria and my new visa stamp.

I cannot say enough about how helpful and willing Dean was. He made it easy for me to understand the procedure, brought my shoulders back down from where they had been hovering near the top of my ears in stress and frustration.

If you are having any problems with your own, or your company's Romanian paperwork, I cannot recommend Dean enough. He knows the territory, and has made a good business of that knowledge. The fee was reasonable. The welcome warm. The relief unmeasurable. The English perfect because he's a Brit.

Bravo, Dean, and thank you.
